CambioVia-PRO activities begin to enhance biodiversity and support rural communities

Activities are now getting underway involving Laore Sardegna and Rurinnova S.r.l. Società Benefit in Component 2 of CamBioVia-PRO, the cross-border cooperation project funded by the Interreg Italy-France Maritime Programme 2021–2027.

CamBioVia-PRO builds on the experience and results of CAMBIO VIA, with the aim of protecting biodiversity and supporting rural communities through sustainable agricultural and pastoral practices, the promotion of local traditions and the creation of new economic opportunities. The project involves territories in Italy and France and addresses, among other themes, transhumance, multifunctional agriculture and sustainable tourism.

In Sardinia, Laore Sardegna coordinates project activities across the region with the scientific, technical and organisational support of Rurinnova S.r.l. Società Benefit. The work will focus on stakeholder engagement, capacity building and the development of networks capable of connecting biodiversity, agrifood production and local development.

Planned activities include opportunities for dialogue and co-design workshops focused on enhancing territorial identities and developing local economic networks. The process will involve the Custodian Communities (Comunità Custodi) and stakeholders from the agrifood, tourism and environmental sectors, fostering the exchange of experiences and the identification of new forms of cooperation.

Activities will also include a workshop dedicated to transforming local resources – such as agricultural products, local varieties and native breeds, traditional knowledge and mountain-based skills and crafts – into ideas for sustainable products and services. Particular attention will be paid to opportunities for young people and women in rural areas.

Through this initiative, Laore Sardegna and Rurinnova S.r.l. Società Benefit contribute to connecting biodiversity conservation with the economic vitality of rural areas: enhancing natural and cultural heritage means supporting the communities that care for it while creating new perspectives for the future of rural territories.
